Child/Family Therapy:

Solving Problems and Building Stronger Bonds

If your family is struggling with issues like:

  • Failure to thrive or behavioral problems

  • Parent-child conflict

  • Sibling rivalry

  • Communication breakdowns

  • Major life transitions (e.g., divorce, blended families, loss)

...then family therapy can provide the catalyst you need. I draw upon the principles of secure attachment, combined with a workbook, to help families navigate these challenges.

Why Family Therapy?

While your child's struggles may seem like individual challenges, it's often helpful to consider the bigger picture. Family therapy offers a unique opportunity to explore how family dynamics, communication patterns, and shared experiences might be contributing to your child's difficulties. It also allows the therapist to help your family with flexibility and wisdom—offering child-only, joint or parent-only session as needed to address issues that may be unseen or unspoken in individual child therapy. For example, a child's anxiety might be rooted in life transitions or family stress, which wouldn't be addressed in sessions focused solely on the child.

By working with the entire family, we can address underlying issues, improve communication, and strengthen family bonds. This approach not only creates lasting change but also empowers the whole family to develop healthier behaviors and live in harmony. Ultimately, family therapy aims to improve the overall functioning of the family unit, which in turn benefits each individual member, including the child.
